I came across an article talking about super foods. The writer claims that there is this thing called a super food which provides more health benefits than most of the other foods that we eat, because it is “nutrient dense”.
I know that some foods are healthy and some are not, but I never thought that some foods are so healthy that they can be referred to as “super foods” …
Well, apparently those super foods can help you losing weight because the body recognizes them as a lot more satisfying than the regular foods we usually eat. They provide the body with the minerals and vitamins it needs in order to regulate its weight in a natural way. I think that it is related to the way our metabolism works, see for example this article about metabolism as part of a diet plan I am now trying, calorie shifting which I think can work for me.
Anyway, I do know that there is a simple test to check if your diet is healthy enough and includes what your body needs, or not. If after having a meal which is big enough that it makes you full, you still want to have something to eat right afterwards then it means your body is simply after some nutritious ingredient that you failed to have in your meal. In other words, the mean you just had was not nourished enough.
So, a diet lacking in nutrients may leave you not nourished enough, and this results in you wanting to eat some more in order to get the missing nutrients.
From my experience, this loop leads to weight gain, because you actually consume a lot more calories than you need.
Bottom line is, when you eat a meal that contains many of those super foods, you don't feel the need to snack in between meals or overeat right after a big meal.
The only thing left for me now to do is figure out what are those foods, and try to eat more of them and less of the others :)

Did you know that some types of food can help you increase metabolism? Yes, eating not only result in more calories and more weight and fat…eating the right foods can actually help you lose weight. I am not talking about magic diet pills that do nothing but shrink your bank account, I mean normal everyday food that all of us eat on a regular basis.
Food that increases the body’s metabolism can be found in every diet, these are usually high in complex carbs and protein. Consuming on regular basis foods that increase metabolism will help your body burning more energy, meaning burning more calories, and therefore increasing your weight loss.
Don’t be fooled with diets that only tell you to reduce the amount of calories that you consume without considering what types of food are eaten. This kind of diet might slow your metabolism, and the result will be weight gain instead of weight loss…5-6 small meals a day which include diverse food types (and also those foods that increase metabolism) are better than 2-3 main meals a day. Why is that? Simply because it keeps your metabolism on a high rate of work. The calorie shifting diet plan is a good diet that takes into consideration the types of food, not only their amount, and in addition tells you how to shift those foods in a way that really boosts your metabolism.
It is easy to including foods that increase metabolism into your diet. Give it some thought and planning and you will find foods that are healthy, increase metabolism and even taste great.
Foods that boost metabolism include fruits, vegetables, spices and many more. Here is a list of foods to start with:
Green tea
Coffee
Ginger
Garlic
Cinnamon
Celery
Tomatoes
Carrots
Fennel
Vitamin C (citric fruits such as oranges)
Chicken breast, turkey breast (these are great sources of low-fat protein)
Fish (fatty acids)
Water!
